This morning, the RCMP announced that an additional body part has washed ashore on the edge of the Straight of Georgia; this time, though, it’s a hand. (News story is available here.)
An interactive map of the locations of all the finds is available here: http://www.vancouversun.com/maps/sixfeet.html
It makes much more sense for feet to wash ashore than hands, because feet are protected (by shoes) unlike hands or other body parts. Additionally, shoes float, which keep the feet away from bottom-dwelling scavengers, like crabs. Hands are much more vulnerable, which makes this find even more unusual.
This remains a mystery worth watching. Hopefully the RCMP or the BC Coroner’s Service provide additional information soon.

Really interesting post. I’ve been following these wash-ups for a while now. Glad to hear things are still good and crazy in the old hometown…

Although it’s pretty gross that body parts sometimes wash up on shore, your map is awesome.

Seems a little concentrated to be random.
My guess is it is a serial killer.

I hope the police solve this case soon. It saddens me to think there may be so many victims out there without any explanation as to what happened to them. On the assumption that foul play is involved, the victims and their families deserve answers.

I had heard a little bit about this, but wasn’t aware of the number of parts that had been found. It’s pretty gruesome – Hmmm, I was going to suggest that hands may be more traceable than feet, but then I read the news story you’ve linked to.
I was hoping that clue might give a hand towards solving the mystery…
