Birthday Parties in the old City Morgue

February 2nd, 2009 by Chris Mathieson

birthdayinviteIn the first three years I worked here, we had only a single birthday party a year here. In the past few months, though, we’ve had a dozen, with tons more planned for the next few months. How come?

The secret (don’t tell the competition) is that people buzz about us now in a way they didn’t used to. The advertising we’ve done in various family publications and the effort we’ve put into giving kids who come here an amazing experience has paid off. Although we’ve recently updated our website to include a whole bunch of additional information on our birthday packages, most of our bookings come from people who’ve heard that we’re “a great place to have a party”. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that we’re reasonably priced… birthday parties are definitely a racket these days. (Can you imagine paying $70/child for a birthday party?)

As we can, we’ll continue to expand our birthday party offerings to include more items for goodie bags, better decorations, more space for food, and possibly even packages appropriate for adults. (Who doesn’t want to have their birthday party in a morgue?)

What a great idea. I haven’t been in the morgue in years, and I would love to see what it’s like now.

Your blog has changed since the last time I’ve visited – the graphics have improved – my fav is the changing photo banner on the front page. Good job!

I’ve added you to my blog roll.

    Cheers,

    Sandra

My birthday is all the way down to Sep 19th, so I’ll have to wait. But would SO look forward to this!

Um, I notice I’m not on the blogroll! ;)

Hey Chris, what a clever idea – I love the themes idea.

Netchick sent me over to see what Vancouver Police Museum have been up to recently.
Somehow I can’t see the British Police doing the same thing!

Absolutely brilliant. I’d move to Vancouver just to give my kids the opportunity. Our 8-year-old would freak if he knew! Can I have the London PF call ya?

    I’m back from Netchick :-)

I loved the idea of the Forensic Party – do you deliver? All the way to the UK? [looks hopeful]
I am very interested in Forensic Anthropology, Bill Bass is one of my big heroes. Not only do I have both his autobiographies, but am now collecting his novels!

Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.
