Museum Interpreter
In the last five years, the Vancouver Police Museum has seen incredible growth, thanks in part to a roster of engaging school and public programs on the forensic sciences, and on Vancouver’s criminal and law enforcement history. Our programs are a core part of who we are as an organization; they showcase our knowledge, enthusiasm, creativity, and quirky personality. Working under the supervision of the Museum Programmer, the student will be responsible for delivering our educational programs, supervising our drop-in programs, conducting guided tours of the museum, participating in museum special events on and off-site, and handling gift shop sales.
Requirements:
- currently enrolled as a student in education, communications, history, museum studies, archival studies or other related field
- computer literacy, including Microsoft Word
- able to pay attention to detail
- ability to work both independently and in a team
- between 16 and 30 years of age, returning to school in the fall
- willing to commit to working 35 hours per week from May 11 – August 28, 2011

Digitization Assistant
The Vancouver Police Museum is operated by the Vancouver Police Historical Society, a non-profit society and registered charity. The mandate of the museum is to foster interest in the history of the Vancouver Police Department and to deliver educational programs that focus on crime prevention and the science of contemporary police work.
Working under the supervision of the Curator, the successful candidate will be responsible for digitally photographing the museum’s collection, linking the images to the current collection database, and conducting a collection inventory.
Requirements:
- currently enrolled as a student in history, museum studies, archival studies or other related field
- computer literacy, including Microsoft Access
- familiar with basic principles of digital photography
- able to pay attention to detail
- ability to work both independently and in a team
- between 16 and 30 years of age and registered in the Young Canada Works candidate inventory
- willing to commit to working 35 hours per week from May 11 – August 28, 2011

Exhibit Developer
Working under the supervision of the museum Curator, the successful candidate will be responsible for research, information management, and oral history collection for a new exhibit at the Vancouver Police Museum.
Requirements:
- currently enrolled as a student in history, museum studies, archival studies or other related field
- computer literacy, including Microsoft Word
- Excellent research, communications and interpersonal skills
- Some interview or oral history experience
- ability to work both independently and in a team
- between 16 and 30 years of age and registered in the Young Canada Works candidate inventory
willing to commit to working 35 hours per week from May 11 – August 28, 2011

Collections Assistant
Working under the supervision of the Curator, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the acquisition, identification, description of records, basic preservation, and maintenance of museum artifacts and archives. The Collections Assistant will also be involved in historical research relating to current and future exhibits.
Requirements:
- Excellent research, communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Access an asset
- Able to pay attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Some graphic design and/or exhibit design an asset
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student in anthropology, museum-studies, history, archival-studies or other related field and returning to full-time studies in the fall; between 16 and 30 years of age
- willing to commit to working 35 hours per week from May 11 – August 28, 2011
